Why did I even waste the gas? I was looking into business tax software for my Mac. Quit laughing. Mac users are well versed in overcoming the difficulties encountered in locating programs that work with our far superior computers. It only took 20 minutes to find what I was looking for at Office Depot dot com.
The product page indicated online availability for store pickup or available store in the store. Not wanting to waste time, I called the store to see if they had it in stock. What part of “get out behind the counter and check” don’t these people understand? What part of “just order it online” don’t I understand?
20 minutes later I’m standing in the store next to the display of software – all for Windows (expletive deleted). Smiling, I ask a young lady at the checkout where I might find the Mac version.
Smiling back at me she replies, “Oh, that’s probably over along the wall.”
It wasn’t. Strike two. I head over to Office Max. Same story. Including the snappy banter in the stores and my drive time I’ve wasted an hour getting steamed.
Back home, I double-check the webpage to make sure I hadn’t misread anything. I hadn’t. Let’s order online! When I clicked checkout I was transferred to a page that indicated my shipment would arrive in 3 days. The product isn’t available in any store in the Milwaukee area. Wish they had told me that in the first place online or on the phone. “Taking Care of Business” indeed.
